I made a movie called The Romeo Productions Hour (which you may have read about in some of the comics). It was a compilation of short skits directed by me. Since the movie was going to be played on the campus cable system, I wanted to give Tony V. some exposure to promote the comic.
My first idea had Tony in a restaurant. There would be a waiting list, and he'd give his name to the hostess. She recognizes the name, and asks if he's the real Tony V. It would have portrayed Tony as somewhat of a local celebrity.
My friend Missy agreed to help us, but we couldn't find a restaurant to use and time was running out. The following was what we came up with about a week before the premiere.
I had never worked with Tony or Missy in front of the camera, and I was really surprised how well everything went. There wasn't an exact script, just a basic plot to follow and say what seemed natural. Tony busted out with some jokes that weren't planned, which was great. It turned out to be one of the most popular skits of the evening.
(the actual script has been shortened for clarity)
Tony is reading the latest edition of The Record, when a beautiful blonde walks up to him.

"Excuse me, are you Tony V., from that cartoon in The Record ?" she asks. "Uhh... yes I am," Tony nervously answers. "I just want to tell you that it's the best comic in the whole newspaper," she continues. "Thank you," Tony responds. "My mother actually thinks so too."
The girl hurries goes off to class, and Tony V. is a happy person.

As she turns the corner, John is there waiting for her. "Thanks, Missy," he says as he hands her a wad of cash. She counts the money. "That was great," John continues. "Whatever," Missy shoots back and storms off. "Losers."

John finds Tony and sits next to him. Tony tells John all about the girl. John acts really surprised. "See, I told you this was going to work!" John says. "Didn't I tell you that you were going be well-known around campus?" "It's working," Tony agrees. John goes on,"I told you! I'm gonna make you famous."
