I can't really remember what triggered the idea of this web site. I think I came up with it in the shower. I loved the idea of people all over the world having access to all the comics and the stories behind them. There was only one problem: I didn't know how to make a web site, and didn't really know all that much about the internet.
I couldn't wait to tell Tony my brilliant idea. We went to the same restaurant where the SuperSenior comic was born, and I brought a pad and paper in with us. I wrote something on the pad and announced, "This is the future of the SuperSenior comic," and showed it to him. On the pad I had written: 'www.supersenior.com'. That didn't turn out to be the original address, but Tony got the idea.
That was sometime in June 1997, and by the first week in November I hadn't even started. Tony had completely given up on me. I bought a book to help me, because I really wanted to get something on the web before I graduated. I eventually was directed to Randy, the webmaster at our school, who was familiar with the comic and gladly gave us space on the server.
Less than three weeks after I opened the book, I had a 40-page draft of the SuperSenior web site up and running. That site had two sections to explore: "The SuperSenior Story" and "Read the Comics." A few months later I made a 60-page 'upgrade,' adding the "Promotions" section, which I thought would be the site's final version. You are now experiencing "Version 3.0," an 80-page version with the added "Illustration Gallery," "Television Series," and a bunch of design changes and content additions. And of course, the address is finally "www.supersenior.com."
The funniest thing about this web site's history is that for almost a year we had a link off of the Buffalo State homepage. This site prides itself on making fun of that school, and our link was prominently listed in a high traffic area of their site.
I often wonder if this site is worth my time and effort. Hope you're enjoying it.
