| Showcasing your film at The Romeo Theater is a great way to promote your work to a new audience. If you have a movie that youd like to share and tell us about, keep reading!
CONTENT Im looking for creative, entertaining stories that will hold viewers attention. Of course, you must be the legal owner of the work. Your movie must be under 5 minutes long. The content of your movie must be in the PG range. MUSIC Any music used in your movie must be created by you OR legally licensed to you, and you must have permission to present the music online. THE PROCESS Please read this section in its entirety before sending me your submission. 1. Start with the submission form Download, print out, read, complete and sign the Romeo Theater Submission Form. 2. Send me your movie You can post your movie online for me to view, or send it to me in the mail. If you post your movie online, email the URL to me at john@romeo-theater.com. If your movie is accepted, you'll need to mail your submission form to me with your extra features (noted below in section 4). If you mail me a copy of your movie, please include your completed submission form. I accept submissions on DVD, VHS, or Mini DV. You can send as many movies as youd like, but each one must have its own submission form. Whether I present your movie or not, your submission will be returned to you only if you include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE). If you do not enclose a SASE, or if it is returned to me because of inadequate postage, your submission will be destroyed within 30 days of initially receiving it. Mail your submissions to: John Romeo, Romeo Theater, P.O. Box 7024, Richmond, VA 23221 3. I'll review the submission After receiving your submission, I will review it within 5 days. If your movie is not selected to be featured on the show, you will be notified by email. If you mailed a physical submission, it will be returned or destroyed as outlined section 2 above. If your movie is chosen to be featured on the show, keep reading 4. More from you Once your movie has been approved for the show, there are three video segments Ill need from you. All of these segments must be provided to me in one of two formats: (a) as full-resolution QuickTime movies on a data DVD or (b) on a Mini DV tape. At this time, I cannot accept HDV submissions. Here are the three segments I need to feature your movie on the show: Segment A: WELCOME SEGMENT: Introduce yourself to the audience: Hi (or "Hello", "Greetings", or whatever), Im [NAME] from [LOCATION]." You can simply say "Welcome to the Romeo Theater! or come up with and intro that connects to your movie. For example, in show #33, they said "It's Jerry Time at The Romeo Theater." In show #34, the director said "It's time to get a little adrenaline on The Romeo Theater." You get the idea. Segment B: MOVIE I know you already sent your movie to me, but that was just a preview. Now I need it in one of the formats listed above: a QuickTime movie on a data DVD or on a Mini DV tape. Segment C: EXTRA SEGMENT Heres the fun part. You get to produce a short segment sharing some behind-the-scenes information with the viewers. The extra segment must be under 2 minutes long. Your extra segment could be:
Please keep the extra segment fast-moving. 2 minutes of the camera pointed at you is too long; try cutting to other visuals while you're speaking. I reserve the right to edit your extra segment. I'll add the standard Romeo Theater "making-of" theme music to the background of your extra segment, unless you use music of your own. If you put music in your extra segment, it must follow the same rules for music used in your movie (see above). In shows 1 - 11, I gave a short introduction before playing the movie. However, your movie must be able to stand on its own without an introduction. No need to send an introduction segment other than the "Welcome" segment described above. These segments must be provided to me within 30 days of receiving approval to be on The Romeo Theater. If you send them later than 30 days, I cant guarantee to feature your movie on the show. 5. Youre a star! Once everything is correctly submitted, your movie will be featured on The Romeo Theater as soon as possible, depending on the number of submissions approved. Tell all of your friends! You're famous! If you have any questions about the submissions process, don't hesitate to send me an email: john@romeo-theater.com |
